My background

He served 3 tours in Vietnam with VMA-311.  Her parents also taught her about fairness and instilled in her the belief that if she was willing to put in the hard work it took to achieve her goals, anything was possible - no matter what she was told by other people.

  • My dad was a Marine Corps A4 pilot. He served 3 tours in Vietnam with VMA-311.  Her parents also taught her about fairness and instilled in her the belief that if she was willing to put in the hard work it took to achieve her goals, anything was possible - no matter what she was told by other people.
  • Kathy entered military service with those values at heart at a time when women in combat arms was the exception, not the rule. She is one of only a few women to graduate from both the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course and the US Army Rotary Wing Flight School. Kathy was later stationed at Fort Bragg and was deployed to Grenada for Operation Urgent Fury, where she became one of the first women recognized by the US Army to fly in combat.  Several years later Kathy graduated from Helicopter Maintenance and Test Pilot school and became the first woman to command a company in an Attack Helicopter Battalion.
  • In 1990, as a member of the 101st Airborne Division, Captain Batt deployed with the first wave of troops to Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Shield.  In 1991, at the conclusion of Operation Desert Storm, she redeployed home where she met Gabriel Eszterhas. Gabriel is the son of Hungarian immigrants and is the love of her life.  Both Kathy and Gabe left active military service soon thereafter.  Gabe, a numbers guy at heart, became a CPA. But Kathy wasn’t done with flying.  She became a commercial helicopter pilot.  During this time, she flew Fire Suppression missions in conjunction with various government agencies. She also became a member of the Screen Actors Guild and flew a helicopter in several movies and commercials.
  • At her core, Kathy is a public servant.  So, in 1996 she took on her next challenge: the FBI.  Kathy became a Special Agent in the Criminal Investigation Division, where she served for 20 years.  She fought against fraud and corruption as the case agent on many organized crime, RICO, and healthcare fraud investigations. The State Department also recognized her for her work on a national security case.
  • In 2016, Kathy retired from the FBI.  A couple of years later, Gabe was offered a position in higher education at UNC-Pembroke, bringing them to their home here in Robeson County.  Kathy is now taking on her next challenge, and offering herself up for public service once again.
  • Throughout her life, Kathy has consistently blazed a trail, living by the values of honor, integrity and service. She is always up for a challenge and doesn’t back down even when the odds are not in her favor.  She looks forward to bringing those values to the NC Senate, and continuing to serve her community.

I'm a proud member of the  Democratic Women of Robeson County. I support Josh Stein and Rachel Hunt for Governor and Lt Governor.

My husband and friends have been knocking on doors in Scotland, Hoke, and Robeson Counties. If I haven't knocked on your door yet, I'll be there soon.

Union Work

The cast and crew of the movie Congo, filmed in Costa Rica. I'm on the wing somewhere. That is Jimmy Buffet's DC3. The pilots let me fly it from San Jose to Golfito.

That is professional stuntman Tom Sanders, hooked up to a 100 foot long line. We never got him ;higher than 20 feet but the movie magic made it look like he was skydiving. We did swing him into a short bushy tree...

Stunt Women

Stunt women, Laura Linney's stunt double, and me, the stunt pilot.

Yay, Screen Actor's Guild! We were paid the same as the guys.
