On January 6th, Miller delayed sending troops to aid Capitol Police because "he didn't want it to look like a coup." When it started, everyone knew Trump was attempting a coup.
I spent an afternoon with women students and staff at UNC-Pembroke. These women have dreams and want the opportunity to achieve them. Republicans want to shrink their lives and control their bodies. Every woman and girl should have the freedom to decide what path her own life takes. Each woman has the right to decide what happens to her own body.
Today, public education is under attack. Our country cannot excel if we leave the poor behind. I will work to change the way schools are funded so that the most vulnerable communities are not left behind.
Unions are the most effective way to obtain fair wages and safer work places. Corporations are prioritizing profits and executive pay over investing in their labor force. Trickle down isn't working. North Carolina has a great history of successfully unionizing.
North Carolina is taking way the rights of women to choose how and when to have a family. And Dictrict 24 has the worst healthcare outcomes in the state.
In 1978 President Jimmy Carter signed the Law that ended the separate Corps for women.
Women were fully integrated into the US Army. This opened up many military occupations available to women.
In 1980, Kathy earned the top spot in her Company at ROTC Advanced Camp at Fort Bragg, NC
In 1983, Kathy was deployed to Granada for Operation Urgent Fury, Her success helped pave the way for women to be fully integrated into Army Aviation.
In 1988, Kathy took command of D Company,, 4/501st Attack Helicopter Battalion. As the Maintenance company commander, Kathy became the first woman to command a company in an Attack Helicopter Battalion.
Kathy left the Army in 1992 and was hired by a commercial helicopter service.
Kathy was the first woman to fly long line missions for several government agencies in wild fire support. (Kathy is in the brown flight jacket in the front row)
Kathy attributes her ability to enjoy an exciting career to the women in her life and to the women who fought for the right to live the life they chose,
